Distorta, based in Ballarat (Victoria), was formed by James Bogers (Guitar/Vocals) and Chris Hanrahan (Drums) in 2015. After a few lineup changes, the current lineup which also includes Dave Prodanovic (Bass), Dom Davey (Guitar/Vocals), and Dimitry Keremetskiy (Vocals) was solidified in 2022. Distorta plays Modern Heavy Metal that blends influences from a number of different genres including; Groove, Thrash, Power, and Death Metal.
They released their Debut Ep – A Devil in the Dust midway through 2023 and it has received strong reviews from around the world including 8/10 from Metalled Magazine in Denmark and 7.5/10 from Powermetal.de in Germany. Distorta also had an interview featured in Metalized Magazine Issue #149 which was released in December 2023. Reviewers have not been able to categorize their style of metal but have made comparisons to bands such as Parkway Drive, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Testament, and many others.
In late 2023, after hearing the EP, Distorta was contacted by Wormhole Death Records based in Italy (with offices in Japan and the USA) and offered a Contract, which they were very excited to sign. The contract will include the distribution of their EP through Europe, Japan, USA, and Australia. Wormhole Death also has connections with Warner and Sony Music.
Songs from the EP have been added to playlists and received airplay on several metal radio shows around the world.
Distorta also sent their song, The Tomorrow People, to Dark Tunes Records in Germany as part of a worldwide competition to be included on their compilation album, The Battle of Metal Vol. 8. The band was excited to have their song selected by Dark Tunes to be part of this compilation which was released in January 2024.
Distorta prides itself on delivering high-energy live performances and is keen to travel to play to new audiences and broaden its fanbase.
