Our Last Enemy

Deriving their name from the quote “Until the day we meet our last enemy, which is death itself” unique Sydney-based metal outfit Our Last Enemy produce music evocative of the fine lines which exist between the unseen and the seen, oblivion and nirvana, and the ceaseless ebb and flow of the waves of fortune which shape our existence.
Their sonic synergy of cascading synths, heavy riffs and roaring, haunting vocals are reminiscent of the concept of yin and yang – the contrast between light and dark -neither of which can exist without the other. With music more akin to that of a soundtrack or theatrical score their sound conjures sentiments reflective of the torrents underpinning both the beauty and brutality of life, and death.

With influences such as Rammstein, Fear Factory, NiN and Korn, Our Last Enemy have drawn inspiration from the eclectic genre-bending sounds of their contemporaries. The unique incorporation of elements from a variety of other sub-genres in order to brashly bend, blend or stay true to conventional styles of metal has resulted in the creation of their distinct array of music.

Most notably, elements of Progressive metal, Groove-metal, Electronica and even symphonic and orchestral sounds have been incorporated into the band’s iconic soundscape; an approach which makes it difficult to sanction the band into any single sub-genre. However, when asked how the band would best describe their style, the resounding answer is, “We’re Industrial Metal”, plain and simple.

Relocating to L.A. in 2011 to record their debut album, ‘Fallen Empires’(Riot!/Warner) which was produced by Christian Olde Wolbers (Ex-Fear Factory) reached #1 on the iTunes Metal charts (Australia). Their follow-up E.P. ‘Wolves of Perigord, and a remix album, ‘Engineering the Enemy’, both hit #2 on the charts. In 2014 Our Last Enemy released their debut North American release “Pariah,” and signed to Eclipse Records. “Pariah,” received critical acclaim landing Revolver Magazine’s ‘Best New Release’ and ‘Album of the Week’, propelling the band into heavy airtime across North America. Single ’10,000 Headless Horses’ hit #11 on the U.S. Radio Rock charts and was a featured track in MTV’s ‘Rock Band’ video game for Xbox.

Having already toured with the likes of Static X, Dope, Prong, Powerman 5000, Purterbator, Mnemic, Soil, Pain, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Fozzy, and Combichrist and new music on the horizon produced by two-time ARIA nominee DW Norton, with the legendary John Sankey (Fear Factory, Divine Heresy) on drums, Our Last Enemy return to full power in 2023 with release and tour dates to be announced soon.
